Description:
Effectiveness is the extent to which a drug can achieve the desired effect in clinical practice, in this
case, to achieve an effect in lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure to a standard value.
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of therapy, and whether or not there is a difference
in blood pressure between amlodipine and nifedipine treatment. The type of research is analytic
observational, with retrospective data collection conducted at Tanjungsari Health Center, Pacitan,
East Java. The study subjects were control outpatients for the period January-September 2021
and met the inclusion criteria (ICD-110 outpatient hypertension patients, age 20 years, male or
female with or without other diseases, receiving amlodipine and nifedipine antihypertensives,
minimal treatment 3 months). The effectiveness of therapy is measured by the percentage of
patients whose blood pressure values reach the therapeutic target after 3 months. The results of
the study were 99 patients who met the inclusion criteria, 51 patients on amlodipine therapy with
73?fectiveness and 48 patients on nifedipine therapy with 29?fectiveness. The mean
systolic blood pressure after 3 months of amlodipine therapy was 137 mmHg and 154 mmHg for
nifedipine therapy. The mean diastolic blood pressure after 3 months of amlodipine therapy was
83 mmHg and 87 mmHg for nifedipine therapy. There was a significant difference in mean systolic
blood pressure (p=0.000) and mean diastolic blood pressure (p=0.001) in hypertensive patients
treated with amlodipine and nifedipine. In conclusion, the therapeutic effectiveness of amlodipine
was 73% and nifedipine was 29%, and there was a significant difference (p<0.01) in blood
pressure from amlodipine and nifedipine treatment.
