AVOCADO SEED EXTRACTS (Parsea americana Mill.) BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS PROFILE AS A SOURCE OF ANTIOXIDANTS

Description:
The use of synthetic antioxidants in high doses is reported to be toxic and carcinogenic. Avocado seeds are not used because the waste in avocado seeds contains many phytochemicals. Research on avocado seeds has been carried out mainly as antioxidants using 70% and 100% ethanol solvents with the FRAP and DPPH methods. There is no detailed information on antioxidant testing using 95% ethanol solvent with the ABTS method (2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) which is associated with active phenolic compounds, flavonoids and proanthocyanidins as chemical compounds which are natural sources of antioxidants. tall. The results of this research using 95% ethanol extract on avocado seeds contain secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and steroids. Has a phenolic content of 62.18%GAE±0.73, flavonoids of 0.157%QE±0.01, proanthocyanidins 2.1841 mg/L±0.25 With IC50 vitamin C and a sample of 0.6419 mg/L±0 ,04 ; 3.2467 mg/L±0.27. This antioxidant activity has a very strong category. The results of data analysis using the LSD test showed the sig. 0.00 <0.05 which can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the levels of phenolics, flavonoids, proanthocyanidins on antioxidant activity.
