Physical Properties of Peel-Off Gel Mask Ethanol Extract of Surian Leaves (Toona sinensis) as an Antioxidant

Description:
Free radicals can cause damage to skin oxidative cells and affect aging. One of the compounds that can overcome the bad effects of free radicals is Antioxidants. Sources of antioxidants can come from nature, such as from surian leaves (Toona sinensis) which contain flavonoid compounds. To facilitate the use of antioxidant compounds from the ethanol extract of Surian leaves (Toona sinensis), it is formulated in the form of a peel off gel mask preparation. The aim of the study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of surian (Toona sinensis) leaves using the DPPH method, to determine a gel peel-off mask formula that has better physical properties and good antioxidant activity than other formulas. Peel off gel mask formula with various extract concentrations namely (FI) 2,5%; (FII) 5% ; (FIII) 7,5%, and (FIV) 10%. from the results of testing the physical properties of the peel off gel mask, all formulas met SNI requirements such as organoleptic, pH value, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, and drying power, but the interesting display is F1 with value IC50 value of 40.44 ppm while the control positive IC50 value of 19.59 ppm. From the results of the study it can be concluded that FI (2,5%) peel off gel masks have good physical properties and have very strong antioxidant activity (< 50 ppm).
