Description:
Kesambi (Schleichera oleosa) is one of the plants from Indonesia that has the potential as a medicineactive compound that is a potent antioxidant. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of
various parts of kesambi as an antioxidant using the DPPH scavenger method. Samples were extracted
in ethyl acetate solvents by the maceration method. The identification of the class of compounds was
performed by phytochemical screening using chemical reagents and the Antioxidant activity was
evaluated with DPPH free radical using a UV-Vis spectrophotometry detector at 515 nm. The results
of the phytochemical screening showed that all ethyl acetate extracts from various parts of the plant
contained flavonoid, phenolic, and tannin compounds. The results of antioxidant activity tests using
the DPPH method showed the lowest IC50 value was leaf extract (5.4952 ?g/mL) compared to bark
(14.3621 ?g/mL), root (43.4159 ?g/mL), pericarp (159.8782 ?g/mL) dan mesocarp (167.2912 ?g/
mL) respectively. The existence of this bioactivity profile can provide additional information on the
strength of antioxidants in various parts of the kesambi plant which have not been reported in previous
studies so that it can be developed for further research
