Description:
The anti-inflammatory of B. javanica needs to be made into a topical preparation. The bioavailability
and stability of the active substance is a limitation in its use thus it is necessary to develop an appropriate
formula. Nanoemulsion can increase stability and penetration of drugs to pass the skin barrier. This
study conducted to determine the formulation of B. javanica seed ethanol extract nanoemulsion and
its stability. The formulation was carried out using a pseudoternary phase diagram with 3 variations of
components olive oil (EVOO), Smix (tween-propylene glycol 5:1), and water. The charachterization
of nanoemulsi were globule size, % transmittant, pH, viscosity, and drug load. The nanoemulsion of
B. javanica seed extract was evaluated for stability using the Freeze-thaw method. The characteristics
of the nanoemulsion preparations obtained were globule size of 14.4±0.3 nm, zeta potential of 7.7±0.2
mV, %transmittant of 93.05±4.06%, pH of 7.14±0.05, viscosity of 35800±2700 cps, and drug load
of 83.81±8.49%. The noverlty of this study that nanoemulsion of B. javanica seed extract has good
characteristics, but unstable for transmittant and zeta potensial
